Fence renovation in summer 2016
My old wooden fence, partly surrounding the yeard, had came to the end of its time. As well itsbasement was broken a bit here and there. Finnish winter treats badly the concrete work. Especially when there is some iron inside and too cose to the surface.. Rust and frozen water have remarkable power to break the concrete. I had to take off the rusty calk and in worse cases add more iron rod by drilling big holes through the basement and then mount the iron by easy running concrete.. After strenghtening the groundwork I had to mould the surface and cast it by concrete. When the surface was dry I painted the whole groundwork by a special paint to keep the humidity out.

A couple of years ago I covered the top of the fence by the sheet metal. It protects the horisontal top best. Before painting the old parts of the fence, it had to be washed. I did it by the Pressure Washer. Be carefull not to spoil the board surface. Pressure enough to get the moss and dirt off but not too much to dig the wood away. Let the wood dry well before painting The lenght of the fence is about. 65m and 1m of fence includes.20m of board. This will make 1300 m board and to paint both sides, the total was about 2600 m to become painted. I took several weeks. |
